Ruth and Tristan

A sea view, ocean waves, and unique and personal stationery. Let's tell Ruth and Tristan's story

Firstly, can you tell me about you and Tristan, how did you meet, and when did you decide to get married?

Tristan and I met online. We chatted for about a month before meeting up in a Costa in Newbury for our first date. We moved in together after 2 years, and so the hints began about some pretty rings I had seen. Little did I know Tristan had my engagement ring for a year before he proposed! He had arranged various things for us to do where he would propose... Cornwall and Longleat to name a few but covid got in the way. He got fed up of waiting so proposed to me in our front room on Valentine's Day... in my pyjamas! I couldn't understand why he kept asking if I was going to get dressed!

What kind of wedding did you have?

Tristan is from Cornwall, and we had spent lots of mini holidays there, so we both knew that was where we wanted to get married. We looked at a few places but couldn't quite find what we wanted, however, Carlyon Bay Hotel, where we got married, is not far from Tristan's childhood home, so it felt right. We loved it from the minute we stepped inside and the wedding coordinators were amazing. What clinched it was meeting our photographer who said the hotel could offer us a golf buggy for our photos on the beach. I could have cried; where do we sign?!

In your wedding stationery, there are lots of illustrations that are personal to you and Tristan. Can you explain what these mean to you and why you wanted to have them on your stationery?

We didn't want our wedding to be traditional and when we spoke to you to discuss ideas you suggested adding illustrations to make it personal and fun, which we really liked. We started our stationery with wedding invitations, and chose to add little things dotted around the front page; little nods to us individually, and as a couple (medals, stethoscope - even a Cornish pasty!), we had to have our boys on there (cats) and then a few other little things for our guests to find. It was a fun way to add a unique touch and we had so many compliments from friends and family.

What was the hardest thing to do when having your wedding stationery designed?

The hardest thing was knowing where to start, but once we had an idea of the sort of thing we wanted, and from seeing your previous work, you guided us through the options to find 'us'.

Do you have any tips or tricks you can share with other couples leading up to their wedding day?

Our advice is to start planning early and attend as many wedding shows/fairs to get ideas. Listen to recommendations from suppliers about other suppliers they work with regularly; and don't be afraid to say what you want, it's your day!

Congratulations Ruth and Tristan!
