Every year I challenge myself to design a new stationery suite to work with the upcoming open weekend, at the English Oak Vineyard in Dorset. It's a great opportunity for me to work with amazing suppliers and get creative.
This year I wanted to do something slightly different. As a designer, it's not just about the look of something, but also the feel of it. I am instantly drawn to something that looks good, but even more impressed when I want to pick it up and feel the surface it's printed onto! That's exactly what I wanted to achieve when I had the original vision for the stationery I made.
I decided using fabric was key, and starting with the menu. This was printed onto organic cotton, in a rustic, pale coffee shade. Couples that came over the weekend said how much they loved the tangibility of the menu, saying how different it was but also how it would be something guests would want to take home.
The design consisted of a shield at the top, with the couple's initials and the date of the wedding, and this was surrounded by outlined, hand-drawn wildflowers. I then used this throughout the stationery to add consistency.
I also made a bar menu, with hand-painted, watercolour cocktails, a food menu and an escort card table plan - where your guests are told which table they are sitting at, but not which seat, which they can choose for themselves.
Everything was surrounded by the incredible styling and planning from Bellissimo Weddings, flowers and styling from Martha and the Meadow, and crockery, cutlery, linen & glassware from The White Chair Company.
