I'm working on a mix of invitations and on the day stationery at the moment, one of the latter is an order of service for one of the couples I've been working with.
Not everyone needs an order of service but for those that do there are lots of elements that need to be considered.
If you are having a religious wedding, an order of service is essential. This is normally an A5 booklet, that details the order in which the service will progress, but also the times when your guests will need to participate, such as singing hymns and repeating scripture or lines involved in the wedding service. For those having a religious ceremony where there will be guests invited who don't follow the same religion, it can be extremely helpful for guests to understand what is going on, and what will happen next.
Your vicar or religious leader will give you all the text needed for your order of service so arrange a time to discuss this with them around 6 months before your wedding day. For Christian weddings, you can choose the hymns your guests will sing and your vicar will show you where to add these to the service. You can also choose readings. These can either be left in your order of service, or just titled with the reader's name underneath.
Some religious leaders prefer to see your order of service before it is printed. Therefore, you are welcome to forward the PDF proofs I provide to whoever will be in charge of your ceremony before we go to print.
